// The move is part of a £100m investment into supporting households with the rising cost of living
Waitrose has cut prices on over 300 own-brand items as it invests £100m to support families with the rising cost of living.
The grocery retailer has reduced prices of almost one third of its ‘Essential Waitrose’ by an average of 14%.
Nearly a quarter of the items included in the initiative have had their prices cut by more than 20%.

Waitrose executive director James Bailey said: “We understand that getting value for money has never been more important for everyone.
“So we’re cutting the prices of hundreds of everyday favourites from carrots to butter, and tea and coffee, with many cut by 20% or more.
“This means our customers can enjoy greater value in every shop, and by lowering prices in our Essential range we’re making our lowest prices even lower.
Bailey added that cutting prices won’t compromise the grocer’s commitment to “delivering excellent customer service and exceptional quality”.
The grocer launched a ‘Great Saving Event’ last month allowing customers to save up to 50% of cupboard staples.
