Today we are talking about Return Customer Rate.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">So what is a Return Customer Rate? Your Return<br \/>\nCustomer Rate is calculated by dividing the number of customers who<br \/>\nhave made more than one purchase from your store by the total<br \/>\nnumber of customers you\u2019ve had during a given timeframe. It\u2019s the<br \/>\npercentage of your customers who are coming back again.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Your POS system likely gives you this number.\u00a0<br \/>\nKeep in mind that figuring out your return customer rate isn\u2019t a<br \/>\nperfect science. Your POS system likely tracks return customers by<br \/>\nthe credit\/debit cards they use, so customers who pay in cash might<br \/>\nfly under the radar.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">So now that you have your return customer rate handy,<br \/>\ngive it a quick analysis.\u00a0 At first glance, a high rate might<br \/>\nseem like something to celebrate, but keep in mind that super high<br \/>\nreturn rates might mean that you aren\u2019t acquiring new customers. On<br \/>\nthe other hand, if our return rate is low, we might be acquiring<br \/>\ntons of new customers but if they aren\u2019t coming back we need to<br \/>\nknow why. Unfortunately, there is no ideal return customer rate,<br \/>\nbut much like the rest of this series, knowing and analyzing your<br \/>\nreturn customer rate is super empowering and important to your<br \/>\nmarketing strategy and the tactics you put in place to achieve<br \/>\nsuccess in your strategy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201c[You need to understand]&#8230;where to spend your time<br \/>\nand your energy\u2026so that you are not just doing random acts of<br \/>\nmarketing.\u201d &#8211; Wendy Batten<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">So let\u2019s recap: Know your numbers: Conversion rate,<br \/>\naverage order value, and return customer rate. Know how many people<br \/>\nare coming into your shop. Identify where you want to improve your<br \/>\nnumbers and ideally what you want them to be. (This is your<br \/>\nSTRATEGY.)
