<\/div>\nJohn Lewis Partnership has submitted its first planning applications to build hundreds of new rental homes in West Ealing and Bromley.<\/p>\n
It forms part of the retailer\u2019s plans to deliver 1,000 \u2018build to rent\u2019 homes in London and Reading as part of a \u00a3500m joint venture with investment company Abrdn.<\/p>\n
The Partnership had submitted plans that would see 428 new homes in West Ealing and 353 in Bromley, while initial plans for a vacant warehouse site in Reading would be brought forward later this year.<\/p>\n

Residents would have options for short and long-term tenure and the homes would be furnished by John Lewis.<\/p>\n
As part of its plans, each of the developments will have a public piazza, a new flagship Waitrose shop and cafe, roof gardens, flexible work spaces and a gym.<\/p>\n
John Lewis Executive director for strategy and commercial development Nina Bhatia said: \u201cWe\u2019ve worked closely with local communities to understand their needs and we\u2019re now ready to submit planning applications.<\/p>\n
\u201cWorking with our partner abrdn, we want to bring much needed new homes with a community feel to Bromley and West Ealing, which will include the full commitments to affordable housing.\u201d<\/p>\n
Earlier this month, property and development director Chris Harris stepped down from his post after five years. He is said to played an instrumental role in the Partnerships rental home venture.<\/p>\n
