\/\/<\/span> Wickes is facing a boycott from thousands of customers after its COO said trans-critical shoppers were \u2018not welcome in our stores\u2019<\/h6>\n\/\/\u00a0<\/span>Fraser London claimed most of the population was \u201csort of slightly ignorant but mostly kind\u201d at an online trans summit<\/h6>\nThousands of Wickes customers are threatening to boycott the DIY retailer after its chief operating officer said shoppers with trans-critical views are \u201cbigots\u201d who \u201care not welcome in our stores\u201d.<\/p>\n
Speaking at an online trans summit hosted by Pink News, Fraser Longden said:\u00a0\u201cI don\u2019t think I\u2019m ever going to change some of the bigots out there\u2019s minds, I\u2019m never going to win that argument with them.\u201d<\/p>\n
He claimed most of the population was \u201csort of slightly ignorant but mostly kind\u201d when responding to a question on last year\u2019s attempt of a boycott by campaigners surrounding Wickes\u2019 Brighton Pride float.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat might have been us before, it might not be us afterwards \u2013 and equally, if they do come in and buy a tin of paint and behave that way, they\u2019re not welcome in our stores anyway.\u201d<\/p>\n
Longden\u2019s comments caused an angry backlash online, with #boycottWickes trending on Twitter. The retailer has since seen its share price tumbling, which is currently down 3.25%.<\/p>\n
