Aldi has erected a ros\u00e9 wine dispensing billboard in the centre of Manchester to coincide with\u00a0National Ros\u00e9 Day on Saturday.<\/p>\n

The discounter has identifed the northwest as the UK\u2019s biggest ros\u00e9-loving region according to its sales data.<\/p>\n

A giant pink in the St Ann\u2019s Squarre in Manchester will a free glass of Provence Ros\u00e9 to passers by today and tomororw, but only when the weather hits 19.2C, which the retailer\u2019s research found was the perfect climate to enjoy a glass of vino.<\/p>\n

The activation comes as Aldi witnessed a 134% sales uplift in spring\/summer sales year on year, with the most successful day coinciding with the August heatwave.<\/p>\n

Aldi UK managing director of buying Julie Ashfield said: \u201cEveryone\u2019s heard the saying \u2018it\u2019s wine o\u2019clock\u2019 but we wanted to find out when it\u2019s \u2018ros\u00e9 degrees\u2019 \u2013 and according to the nation of ros\u00e9 lovers, the ideal temperature is 19.2C.<\/p>\n

\u201cSetting up the world\u2019s first billboard to dispense ros\u00e9 at a certain warm temperature was a challenge in Manchester, which is noted for rain.\u201d<\/p>\n

But as the centre of the region which loves ros\u00e9 more than any other in the UK , fortunately everything came up ros\u00e9.\u201d<\/p>\n

Two thirds of those surveyed by the retailer described ros\u00e9 as the \u2018perfect summer drink\u2019.<\/p>\n

Aldi mistress of wine Sam Caporn said: \u201cWhen it comes to \u2018whether\u2019 to put ice in the glass or not, I\u2019d advise ros\u00e9 fans to be led by personal preference \u2013 which as ever \u2013 is all that really matters. Don\u2019t worry too much about dilution as with ros\u00e9 it\u2019s all about refreshment and I love it being served super chilled.<\/p>\n
