Cosmetics retailer Lush has increased its wages for UK-based staff in line with the Real Living Wage findings this month.<\/p>\n

The new pay, which is set by the\u00a0Living Wage Foundation, is based on the true cost of living.<\/p>\n

Workers over the age of 18 in the UK will receive a minimum of \u00a310.90 per hour, with staff based in London receiving \u00a311.95 as per the London Living Wage.<\/p>\n

The National Living Wage is currently sat at \u00a310.18 per hour for under 23s and \u00a310.42 per hour for over 23s \u2013 with no increase for London weighting.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have worked for Lush and earned the real living wage for almost 6 years, since the age of 16,\u201d a sales assistant said.<\/p>\n\n

|The extra income has allowed me to afford things that others my age have struggled to, including buying a car and moving out of my parents house.<\/p>\n

\u201cEarning the real living wage has also allowed me to go to university and live comfortably while training to be a paramedic.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s vital that people are paid in line with the cost of living, so that they can live comfortably without worries.\u201d<\/p>\n

As the cost-of-living crisis rages on, Lush finance director Kim Coles highlighted the growing importance of paying employees the Living Wage.<\/p>\n

\u201cLush\u00a0staff making and selling our products are crucial to our success and we continue to commit to the rate to ensure that, as the cost of\u00a0living continues to rise, we can be confident that our rates of\u00a0pay are fair and that our staff can afford what they need to thrive, not just to survive,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

Lush was awarded as \u201cIndustry Trailblazer\u201d for paying the Real Living Wage at\u00a0the\u00a0Living<\/span>\u00a0Wage<\/span>\u00a0Foundation Champion Awards 2022,\u00a0following 10 years of paying staff the\u00a0Real<\/span>\u00a0Living<\/span>\u00a0Wage in the UK<\/span>.<\/p>\n

The award aims to recognise Lush\u2019s efforts to go above and beyond paying their staff the Real Living Wage.<\/p>\n
