In this episode, I\u2019m<br \/>\ngoing to talk you through how performing a SWOT Test on your brand<br \/>\nand business can help you reframe your mindset and leverage<br \/>\ncompetition to improve your business.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">SWOT stands for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities,<br \/>\nand Threats. Doing this exercise will really help you brainstorm a<br \/>\nbigger picture and overview of what is really going on in your<br \/>\nbusiness and where to focus your efforts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Competition isn\u2019t a Bad Thing<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" aria-level=\"1\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Forces you to stay fresh in your<br \/>\nbusiness<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" aria-level=\"1\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Brings more visibility to your<br \/>\nshop and can actually funnel customers right to you<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" aria-level=\"1\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Gives you a chance to focus on<br \/>\nwhat you do well and what makes you and your brand unique (your<br \/>\nstrengths) and improve upon the things you don\u2019t do so well (your<br \/>\nweaknesses)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Getting Your Mindset Right<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">1. Ask yourself these questions when performing a SWOT<br \/>\nTest on your business.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" aria-level=\"1\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Strengths &#8211; What is your unique<br \/>\nselling point? What do you do better than anyone else? What do your<br \/>\ncustomers love about your shop that is unique to you? What does<br \/>\nyour community say you are the \u201cgo-to\u201d for? Focus specifically on<br \/>\nthe strengths of your brand.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" aria-level=\"1\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Weaknesses &#8211; What are some things<br \/>\nyou struggle with? Where are the gaps in your skillset? What things<br \/>\nmight hinder your success? Where can you spend time ensuring your<br \/>\nbrand is strong and well-known? Are there aspects of your business<br \/>\nwhere you are just \u201cwinging it?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" aria-level=\"1\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Opportunities &#8211; What external<br \/>\nfactors can help your business grow? What changes would your<br \/>\ncustomers like to see? What additional revenue streams can be<br \/>\nadded? What emerging technology can you leverage?\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" aria-level=\"1\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Threats &#8211; What external factors<br \/>\ncan harm our business? Are there economic or social issues that can<br \/>\nharm your business? What other risks\/challenges do you face? When<br \/>\nyou assess threats, be sure to evaluate the truth in the things you<br \/>\nare telling yourself.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">2. Perform the SWOT Test on your competitor\u2019s<br \/>\nbusiness.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Doing this will help you focus on reality versus the<br \/>\nreality you\u2019ve created in your mind. Don\u2019t dwell on this step &#8211; it<br \/>\nis meant just to give you a clear picture of what is actually<br \/>\nhappening.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">3. Make changes to your business based on the results<br \/>\nof the test you performed on YOUR business.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Push the gas on your strengths. Find a way to level up<br \/>\nyour weaknesses. Remember that by focusing on your weaknesses they<br \/>\nbecome strengths. What opportunities did you identify that you can<br \/>\nseize?
