Designer Marc Jacobs said: \u201cHeartbroken. You did it first. Always. Incredible style with brilliant and meaningful substance.\u201d<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Victoria Beckham wrote on Instagram:\u201cI\u2019m so sad to learn of the passing of legendary designer and activist Dame Vivienne Westwood. My thoughts are with her family at this incredibly sad time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Westwood first came to prominence in the 1970s when she opened a shop on Kings Road with music manager Malcolm McLaren, where she dressed many of the bands he managed, including the Sex Pistols.<\/p>\n
Her designs came to define the punk aesthetic.<\/p>\n
She has also become synonymous with ethical fashion and lobbied the goverment to ban the sale of fur.<\/p>\n
