Last month, the price gap between Tesco\u2019s larger stores and its Express shops was 10.4%, according to a price tracking survey carried out by ESA Retail, The Grocer<\/em> reported.<\/p>\nThat was higher than the 8.4% gap between Sainsbury\u2019s supermarkets and its Local stores over the same period.<\/p>\n

In October, the gap between Tesco and Tesco Express was 10% while Sainsbury\u2019s Local was 7.6% more expensive than Sainsbury\u2019s supermarkets.<\/p>\n
ESA tracked about 1,900 products across the Tesco formats and 2,100 lines in Sainsbury\u2019s.<\/p>\n
The data did not factor in general promotions or savings from Tesco\u2019s Clubcard prices.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith household budgets under increasing pressure, we\u2019re more committed than ever to giving our customers great value at Tesco, whether they shop with us online, in a large store, or in an Express store,\u201d Tesco said.<\/p>\n
