Co-founders Ryan and Lisa Gozlan recently opened two new locations\u2014one at Square One in Mississauga and another in Vancouver\u2019s Kitsilano neighbourhood. The expansion comes as the brand solidifies its place as a contemporary favourite in the Canadian jewellery market, with further plans to open at the Yorkdale Shopping Centre in 2025.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-origins-of-a-modern-jewellery-brand\"><strong>Origins of a Modern Jewellery Brand<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Founded in 2019, <em>Lisa Gozlan jewellery<\/em> has deep roots in both creative passion and family tradition. \u201cRyan\u2019s family has been in the jewellery business for over 50 years,\u201d Lisa explained. \u201cHe\u2019s a fifth-generation jeweller. Meanwhile, I\u2019d been working in fashion and design, and we were both looking for something creative to fulfill us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The idea for the brand emerged almost serendipitously. Ryan recalls Lisa\u2019s reaction to seeing old jewellery samples at his office. \u201cShe said, \u2018What are these? They\u2019re so interesting and cool,\u2019\u201d Ryan shared. Lisa began wearing the pieces and noticed immediate interest. \u201cPeople were literally buying the jewellery off my wrists and neck,\u201d Lisa said with a laugh.<\/p>\n<p>From there, the couple knew they had found their path. Image: Lisa Gozlan<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The brand\u2019s rise coincided with the pandemic, a period that unexpectedly worked to its advantage. \u201cEveryone was online during COVID,\u201d said Ryan. \u201cWe built the brand almost entirely on social media.\u201d The now-iconic <em>Happy Face<\/em> bracelet became a viral sensation. Initially launched in small batches of 15 units, demand quickly skyrocketed. \u201cIt was gone instantly,\u201d Ryan said. \u201cFrom 15 to 50, then 100, and now thousands.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Happy Face<\/em> bracelet, with its playful design and accessible price point, struck a chord with customers seeking affordable luxury. \u201cWe wanted to offer something for everyone,\u201d Lisa explained. \u201cOur jewellery ranges from brass pieces to 14-karat gold with diamonds. Image: Lisa Gozlan<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-first-store-and-expansion-vision\"><strong>The First Store and Expansion Vision<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The success of their e-commerce platform spurred the couple to open their first physical store in Toronto\u2019s Yorkville neighbourhood, at 87 Cumberland Street, in 2021. \u201cAt the time, people thought we were crazy opening a store post-COVID,\u201d Ryan said. But the gamble paid off. \u201cWe saw people driving from all over the city to pick up online orders,\u201d Lisa added.<\/p>\n<p>Since then, the brand has expanded carefully and strategically. Vancouver\u2019s Kitsilano store opened in late November 2024 at 2194 W 4th Avenue, while the Square One location in Mississauga welcomed shoppers on December 13.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSquare One was an opportunity we couldn\u2019t pass up,\u201d Ryan said. \u201cApple moved upstairs, and Oxford Properties approached us about a prime space beside it. Lisa described the area as a natural fit: \u201cIt\u2019s chic, beachy, and has the perfect mix of local and international retailers. When we saw an Aritzia opening across the street, we knew this was the right place for us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The expansion into Vancouver follows a successful 2023 partnership with Holt Renfrew. The couple hosted travelling trunk shows across Holt Renfrew locations in Vancouver, Montreal, and Calgary. \u201cThe response was incredible,\u201d Ryan noted. \u201cIt showed us these markets have legs for us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For Ryan and Lisa, securing a store at Yorkdale Shopping Centre has been a long-standing goal. \u201cYorkdale has always been the dream,\u201d Lisa said. \u201cIt\u2019s such a key location for retail in Canada.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While the details remain under wraps, the Yorkdale location is confirmed for 2025. From viral bracelets to sold-out customization events, the brand has become a lifestyle statement. \u201cPeople don\u2019t just buy the jewellery\u2014they connect with the brand and the lifestyle it represents,\u201d Lisa explained. \u201cIt\u2019s incredibly rewarding to meet our customers face-to-face at events or in-store.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Recent activations, like the <em>Bead Your Own Bracelet<\/em> event in Toronto, sold out within days, underscoring the demand for personalized, meaningful jewellery. \u201cWe\u2019re always thinking of ways to involve our customers more,\u201d Ryan said.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-a-family-driven-business\"><strong>A Family-Driven Business<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>As spouses and co-founders, Ryan and Lisa have created more than a jewellery brand; they\u2019ve built a family business that extends to their loyal staff and customers. \u201cWe think of our team as family,\u201d Ryan said. \u201cWithout them, none of this would be possible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The couple\u2019s daughter, River, has even inspired a collection. \u201cWe launched the <em>River Rose<\/em> collection for Mother\u2019s Day,\u201d Lisa shared. \u201cIt features softer, pastel-coloured designs\u2014perfect for little ones but still chic for moms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With two new stores now open and Yorkdale on the horizon, <em>Lisa Gozlan Jewellery<\/em> is poised for an exciting 2025. \u201cThe growth has been incredible,\u201d Ryan said. \u201cWe don\u2019t take a second of it for granted.
