Frasers Group has acquired a near 9% stake in model trains-to-planes firm Hornby as it continues its acquisition spree.<\/p>\n

The latest investment builds on an existing partnership with the toy company, which has its Scalextric and Airfix brands stocked in Frasers\u2019 320 Game stores and concessions around the UK.<\/p>\n

Hornby said the retail empire had snapped up 11.1m of its shares on Friday, raising its total holding to 8.9%, The Standard reported.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s understood the shares are likely to have been purchased through one of the two biggest investors in the toy firm, Phoenix Asset Management or Artemis.<\/p>\n\n

Frasers CFO Chris Wootton said: \u201cFrasers Group has a vision to build the planet\u2019s most admired and compelling brand ecosystem.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is consistent with our strategy of pursuing strategic interests to enhance value for all stakeholders.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hornby boss Olly Raeburn said: \u201cFrasers Group has built a powerful ecosystem through its brand partners, scaled shared services, and distribution channels.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have long admired their approach to merchandising and logistics and welcome them as a supportive shareholder.\u201d<\/p>\n

Raeburn added that Hornby looked forward to \u201cexploring commercial opportunities\u201d with Frasers.<\/p>\n
